I've basically been hitting the vintage jackpot lately. My finds have been mind-blowing good, well to me of course. This week = yes. I mean, that bag. It's from the seventies and I'm all about it. Fun Fact: that pyrex measuring cup is my first one. Obviously I hoard the bowls (likeeveryoneelse) but this is my first official pyrex measuring cup. Clearly, I don't know how I've made it this far without it ;)

FOUND.
Ah, good old summertime in South Florida. I know what you're thinking, "Isn't it like, always summertime there?" Why yes, yes it is. But real summer time is HOT. Like your car is an oven and it's trying to bake you to a nice golden crisp. No joke. The humidity is what really does us in down here; nice and thick. Anyway, saturday garage sale / thrift days definitely come at a price around this time of year; plan to be hot, plan to want to take a shower every five minutes, and prepare to be seriously hot - like melt your face off hot. Did I say plan to be hot? But with knowing these beauties above are just sitting around waiting to be found, how could I pass it up?
Dear vintage treasures, I will melt in the blazing sun all day for you.
Ps. that owl is the cutest stapler in the world, and yes, that is a 1950's copy of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe all the way to the left. Thank you vintage gods for this lovely haul. Amen.

It's been quite a few weeks since I've been out on a good treasure hunt, and this weekend was just what I needed. It's funny, when we're out and grabbing up miscellaneous things like they're gold, people definitely question it. The lady who sold me the mini rake, was all like, "What the heck are you going to do with that thing?!" and I was all like, "Well you see, I have this peg board in my craft room, and I was going to use it to hang stuff off or as a mini shelf." And then the lightbulb went off and she clearly understood the necessity of it after I explained it (obviously.), but that's only one time of many that I've had to explain myself. I mean, I get it. I'm just this 5'0 nothing tiny girl, who looks fifteen but is actually twenty four, and I'm all like, "Hey, can I buy that thing that's sat in your garage for thirty years? Oh no, it's okay, go ahead and leave that rust and chipping paint on there, it adds to the charm." It's great really. Definitely a spectacle to see. Let's talk about that xylophone though. It's from the sixties and has a serious swoon factor. I mean one day I will have a kid you know, so why pass it up now. We won't mention that I also bought a rocking horse. And obviously it is not pictured, because I don't want to look totally crazy, because it is crazy. But one day I'll share it and you'll get it. Promise. Thus concludes this weeks found, and my new obsession of collecting baby things for my non-existent child. It's not as weird because my best friend/partner in treasure hunting crime is pregnant, and what am I supposed to do when we are looking in the baby/kid section? So give me a break, okay.

Collections: vintage spools
Vintage wooden spools -- among other things; see: children's books, buttons, embroidery hoops, fabric, etc. make my heart pitter patter a little faster when I spot them. Ok, so maybe I hoard them. But, I mean, can you blame me. They are so magical with their old charm and faded colors, who could pass them up? I like mine in a jar on a shelf, but if I ever get a whole bunch (because clearly I'm not even close) I have some tricks up my sleeves and plans for these guys. What are you collecting lately?

When the vintage gods get together and decide they want to see me squeal like a five year old girl, they drop some mid-century goodness on the side of the road and make sure I'm in the right place at the right time. Dj surprisingly spotted this gem as we were on the way home late at night. We jumped out of the truck and loaded it before he could even get out the whole "Hey, look at that, do you want it?" It's new home is in the craft room and I can't wait to organize all my small goods into those drawers. Mid-century vintage stuff is quite possibly my favorite of all vintage. Can't wait to post pictures of this dude fully organized! Anyone else completely smitten with Mid-century furniture?

Oh, just a piano.
I interrupt wedding sharing for this breaking (super exciting) news:
We bought a piano, and I am beside myself excited. I have had my eyes peeled for quite sometime now, and when we found this beauty at an unbelievably low price we snatched it up in the blink of an eye. One of our regular thrifts were having a mega sale and I convinced Dj to go (secretly knowing of their sweet piano section) and we both fell in love with this 1920's piano. We can still hardly believe it is sitting in our living room! We can't wait to get it tuned and start learning how to play! Neither of us know a lick about piano's but I have been dreaming of learning to play for quite some time now, and one day teach my kids. One day. Have you had any amazing finds lately?

This weekends haul was filled with a lot of little vintage treasures. My favorite finds were the vintage tea towels. I am starting my own little collection and it is so fun, I guess I kinda have a thing for vintage linens. I also snatch up any buttons, ribbon, lace I find because well, look at them- they're ah-mazing (and I have a problem?). We don't own a stapler yet in our little home, so this one for a whopping seventy five cents will definitely do the trick. Also, old hooks and clip magnets.. I love you. I really enjoy my weekends on the hunt, and spending quality time with the only person I know who loves these vintage treasures as much as me. What are some things you found this weekend?

This weekends thrifty adventures led us to some fun vintage finds. We had a lot of luck garage saleing, and that's where all these gems came from. Iv'e been searching for a rake head for quite sometime, and I'm glad it was spotted hiding in a little space in someones garage. I can't wait to repurpose it! (and when I decide what that will be repurposed as; I'll let you know) This homemade vintage tee someone sewed made my eyes light up. If I can't make it work size wise, the fabric will definitely be used. Jars and hankies- I'm addicted. Enough said. The mini cake pan (!!!!) I can't wait to make a fun layered mini cake for someone... or just because. Do you really need an excuse for a fun cake? The glass dish. I snatched it up as soon as I laid eyes on it. The lid has a sweet little cow resting on top; in love (even if his ears are half broken off- sad face.) And the wooden beaded bracelet, I have plans for you my pretty (and it may involve gold paint. yes.) What are some things you found this weekend?

I was pretty happy with our finds this weekend. We didn't know how the weather was going to hold up, but Florida surprised us, and held off on the rain a for a little bit. Our newly ours mid-century funky gold rack is perfect for the space I was trying to fill by the front door. Our shoe basket fits right on the bottom, and I can't wait to fill it with some pops of color (maybe a plant or two?)! The wall lamps are so fun, I can't wait to find a place for them. Thinking maybe living room above the couch... hmm. And the scale, duh who doesn't love a vintage scale. exactly. I found something super awesome I'm really excited about on this thrifty trip.. stay tuned for the re-style post coming up (!!!) What are some fun finds you found this weekend?

So thrifting has been hard with my new job, but whenever I get a chance- I go. So it may be spotty, but I'll post FOUND. whenever I can! OKAY, this trip was full of finding fun vintage things. I scored those awesome old milk glasses, a very vintage story tale book, vintage buttons (which is one of my favorite things ever), a sweet handmade trivet, and this amazing tupperware pie/cake carrier. It was a fun and productive day. I'm pretty excited to be collecting tupperware brand, I try to scout out all things tupperware while I'm on the hunt, and I can't wait to bring this cake/pie carrier to little dinner parties. All of these things were found just garage sale-ing around our town. Can't wait for the next outing! Have you found anything lately?

Another productive thrifty trip out! I wasn't really looking for anything in particular and I've been trying to limit what I buy to things that I somewhat need for decor purposes, functionality, or something that is kinda rare and at an fair price! So I was glad to find the yellow Tupperware brand bowl + lid. It's pretty rare to find this specific brand for us because so many people keep them forever (because they're awesome). The Tupperware spice containers were a fun find as well, I hadn't seen them before. Tupperware just makes so many really neat and random things that are practical and in the most dreamy colors. PLUS they were made in the USA- bonus! Another thing I love are vintage books - obviously - The color palettes, images, patterns, etc. make me snatch every one I can up! I couldn't resist showing a sneak peak of a page from each book.
Have you found any good vintage finds lately?

So, I am going to start this new monday trend called FOUND. It will basically highlight all the fun things I [Found] over the weekend, hence the name ;) Thrifting is the highlight of my week. I love every aspect of it, the hunt, the find, the designing with it, etc. Basically everything in our little home is thrifted or DIY-ed, so as I am out I am searching for things that I need to complete our home, something that is functional and good for storage, supplies for crafting and DIY-ing, or just something that is unique and different that could add to the aesthetics of our home! This weeks finds:
School chair: I've been in search of one of these for quite some time, They are such a fun pop of color, and I love the industrial style of them. / Side table: When I found this side table I literally squealed! I love the metal look mixed with the glass top. The rack on the bottom is perfect for storing magazines and books in our living room, and it is the perfect height and size to go next to our couch we built. (bonus- I was specifically hunting this weekend for a side table!) / Bread box: I love bread boxes. I am not certain why but they are always so fun and funky! I love the pop of yellow and it is a great addition to our kitchen. / Pencil sharpener: Obviously as you can see vintage industrial is kinda my thing, so this wall pencil sharpener was an awesome find / Ring holder: love the shape and design, couldn't pass it up. This was definitely a score thrift day, hoping for some more like these!
What are some fun things you FOUND on your thrifting adventures?
